For three straight years, the Philippines have proven its competitive edge in the outsourcing industry when it bagged the Offshoring Destination of the Year Award for 2010.
Awarded during the National Outsourcing Association (NOA) Awards Night at Park Plaza Riverbank Hotel in London, the country’s back-to-back-back win started in 2007 when the country won the same title from the said category. Other nominees for the award were Sri Lanka, Ukraine, and Egypt.
Marking the Philippines’ advantage against other competitors is its pool of English-speaking workforce with a neutral and understandable accent. This, according to the NOA, will enable the country to be one of the offshore giants for the UK Business Process Outsourcing (BPO) market for years to come.
Apart from the professional workforce of the country, the Philippines also boasts a 92% literacy rate. The country has been producing about 450,000 university graduates yearly, composed of 100,000 accounting and finance graduates. Furthermore, the capacity and efficiency of Filipino professionals to adapt to various accents and speaking patterns made them proficient in delivering unparalleled services to their clientele.
In addition, the government support in the form of income tax holidays and other fiscal and non-fiscal incentives as well as the country’s top of the line telecommunications infrastructures has boosted the country’s chances in securing the title. Almost all sectors are doing their parts in maintaining and improving the status of the Philippines as the best offshoring destination in the globe.
The NOA Awards is held annually in recognizing the best practices in the outsourcing industry. This is the only well-established outsourcing association in the United Kingdom.
